ZATCA e-invoicing

Every invoice and credit note is built as a ZATCA document when it is issued, chained by hash and carrying its QR.

The tax invoiceWatch the film, 1:22

How it works

  • Built when the sale is made

At the moment of sale, the invoice is built as a ZATCA UBL 2.1 document, a simplified tax invoice, and given its hash. A sale made offline gets its invoice when the tablet syncs.

  • One unbroken hash chain

Each document carries the hash of the one before it. The chain is continuous for your whole business, across every branch, invoices and credit notes alike. Changing one would break every hash after it.

  • The QR on each invoice

Today the QR carries ZATCA’s tags 1 to 5: seller’s name, VAT number, date and time, total and VAT. Once your shop is connected to ZATCA, it carries tags 1 to 9 and the document is signed.

  • Refunds and cancellations

A refund issues a credit note, and all refunds together can’t exceed the order’s total. Canceling an invoiced order issues one too, and is refused while the customer’s payment is still held.

  • Discounts that add up

Promotions and loyalty points go on the document as allowances, so its lines add up to its totals.

The rules

Signing and reporting
Not yet. Connecting to ZATCA is not open on Tamem yet, so today no document is signed or reported to ZATCA.
Connecting
When it opens, the owner alone connects from Settings › ZATCA with an OTP from their own Fatoora portal, and renews the same way. Signing and reporting every 10 minutes start then.
Business customers
Once connected, a sale to a business customer issues a standard tax invoice, cleared by ZATCA before it can be shared.
Locked details
While you are connected, your VAT number and legal name can’t be changed.
Not included
Businesses registered for VAT as part of a VAT group.

Phase 2 is the law for every VAT registered business here. Tamem builds every invoice and credit note as a ZATCA document when it is issued, hash chained and carrying its QR. Signing and reporting start once your shop is connected to ZATCA. Connecting isn’t open yet.

Nothing here is checking a database. Each invoice carries the hash of the one before it, so an edited invoice changes its own hash and every hash after it. The break starts exactly where the edit did, and no earlier.

Take a real order on it first.

We set it up with your catalog and your prices, on your counter. You watch it print, and decide.
