POS

The till keeps selling when the internet drops, and a sale can’t land twice.

On the tablet, open it in the browser, then add it to the home screen.

How it works

  1. Link the tablet to the shop

Open the POS in the tablet’s browser from the button above, and add it to the home screen. In Settings, the owner enters their password to create a link code; it works once and expires in 10 minutes.

  2. Staff sign in with a PIN

Each member of staff has their own 6-digit PIN. Five wrong tries lock that person out for a minute, and each further miss doubles the wait, up to an hour.

  3. Scan items onto the sale

A keyboard-mode scanner works on every screen, with the camera as fallback. It reads GS1 expiry, batch, serial and weight, scale labels, and pack or carton codes. Unknown codes are quick-added, and age-limited items ask for an age check.

  4. Take payment, split if needed

Up to eight payments settle one bill together: cash, mada, Apple Pay, STC Pay, gift card or store credit. They can’t add up to more than the bill; cash shows the change due.

  5. Close the shift

The cashier counts the float at open, and at close counts the drawer without seeing what it should hold. The variance allows for cash refunds, paid-outs and cash pickups. The Z-report is a PDF.

The rules

Offline sales
With no connection, a sale waits on the tablet and syncs when the internet is back. Each carries its own ID, so the server keeps one order however many times it is sent.
Discount limits
Each role has a cap; the starter roles give Cashier 0%, Supervisor 10% and Manager 100%. Above it, a supervisor approves with a PIN or badge, for that sale and that rate only.
Refunds
A refund is a credit note, capped at what is still refundable, with a choice to restock each line. It takes the refund permission or a supervisor’s approval.
Receipts
The receipt is a PDF from the server, so a sale made offline gets its receipt and invoice once it syncs. The till doesn’t drive a receipt printer directly (ESC/POS), a cash drawer or a customer display.
Supermarkets
A shop on the supermarket preset opens the till on a scan-first screen.
Not included
A card terminal connection (card payments are recorded here, not processed), approvals while offline, and more than one open shift per branch.
